Included in LTL/CIS
The LTL Cost Information System includes a number of modules for both
usage and data development and maintenance. User modules include:
- Interactive: An easy to use entry routine allows the creation of
shipment data with a minimum amount of key entry, utilizing our unique
system of templates and windows.
- Porter: Allows the user to "port" data from existing
files, including your downloaded freight bill records or bid data supplied
by a prospective customer. Porter allows you to process such shipment
records and add freight characteristics (known or simulated) which are not in
the original data. This is invaluable for accurate analysis of
existing customer profitability, re-costing under changed or simulated
traffic or operating characteristics, and bid evaluations.
- Rate Analysis Program: Provides routines to process shipment data
by standard weight group or for pallet rates, to cost and evaluate rates on
prospective freight for which specific details are not available. The
results are by origin/destination pair showing the retrieved rate and the
discount required to obtain profitability targets.
- Spreadsheet Editor: Allows the set up or modification of shipment
data via PC spreadsheet program. Cost results can also be loaded into
the spreadsheet for sorting and display, in addition to the numerous reports
available in CIS.
Then CIS maintenance modules include:
- Unit Cost Development: TCG "maps" your general ledger
expense accounts to CIS unit cost categories, including allocation routines
to split expense accounts as necessary, to enable automatic development of
company-wide and individual freight terminal unit costs on a continual
basis.
- P&D Time Allocation Program: For the entry and processing of
daily driver manifests or onboard computer files to allocate driver time to
individual shipments. This data also creates P&D default handling
characteristics by run, by ZIP Code/Postal Code or by a designated P&D
grid.
- Linehaul Dispatch Data Processing: The maintenance software
processes your actual dispatch data to develop average load and cube
utilization by linehaul leg and balance adjustments using our unique
effective empties calculations.
- Purchased Transportation: Routines store and apply complex cartage
agent rates for local P&D as well as substitute linehaul transportation
from third parties (including other motor carriers and rail with drayage).
- Support Files: The CIS has menu options to convert or set and then
maintain support files such as the carrier's points list, terminal-to-
terminal load plan, and standard extra cost codes to make the system more
efficient to use. With these support files, freight terminals are
automatically looked up based on origin and destination ZIP Codes and Postal
Codes, proper intermediate terminals and rehandling are automatically
assigned between origin and destination, and the costs of providing
accessorial services are determined.
