Additional CIS Training (#12, Winter 1997)

TCG Cost Information System Training

On-site training for the Cost Information System, subsequent to the initial training TCG provides to new clients, is available when needed due to employee turnover, etc.  The cost is US$ 1,000 per day, plus travel expenses.  We have a set of standard half-day sessions, outlined below, but TCG will work with you to set up an agenda which covers all of the areas of the system which you feel should be emphasized.

Our standard half-day sessions are as follows:

 1.    Cost System Usage - The Cost Model

        Overview of the System

        Review of all Input Data

        Interpretation of Results

Who should attend: Pricing Dept, System Administrator, perhaps any other potential users from sales, marketing, etc.

 2.    Cost System Usage - The User Software

Use of the Cost model and all entry mechanisms, including:

            Shipment Costing

            Prospective Freight

            Bid Files

Who should attend: Pricing Dept, System Administrator

 3.    Traffic/CIS Database Usage

Report Design and "drill down" capabilities

Data Extract for Re-Costing under other scenarios

        Customer and Interline Profiles

Who should attend: Pricing Dept, System Administrator, perhaps any other potential users from sales, marketing, etc.

 4.    Cost System Maintenance

Updating unit costs and cartage rates

        Adding points and lanes

Processing dispatch and other download data

        Data improvements

Who should attend: System Administrator, IT support

 5.    Traffic/CIS Database Maintenance

        Standard Month-End Reports

Monthly Processing of the downloaded traffic data

        Interpretation of results.

Who should attend: System Administrator, IT support

We find that the system user(s) get much more out of the training if they are NOT seeing the software for the first time.  Thus, we strongly recommend that the software not only be up and running on the all users' machines, but that the tutorial sections of both manuals be utilized to run a cost analysis and a Traffic/CIS database report, and to review the cost results, before we arrive to do the training.

Sessions can, of course, be tailored for your company's specific use of the system, or to include other items as needed.
