Pickup
& Delivery cost is calculated based on the combination of terminal code and
P&D run number for both origin and destination.
The terminal code and run number often come from the location entry (U.S.
ZIP Code or Canadian Postal Code), which causes the system to look up the
specific terminal and run number in the location index, created from the carrier
points list.
If,
for a particular customer or cost analysis, an alternate pickup or delivery cost
is required, due to factors which make the location-based P&D run
inappropriate for this freight, several options are available to force an
alternate pickup or delivery cost, as outlined below:
|
Alternate
P&D Cost |
CIS
Coding |
|
Characteristics
of a specific P&D run to use for this freight are set up under another
run number in CIS. |
Force
the system to use this alternate run number by adding it to the ZIP Code
in parenthesis, such as 30303(12) to force P&D run number 12. |
|
Characteristics
of a specific P&D run for this freight are not set up as a run
in CIS. |
Enter
the run characteristics in the Drive Adjust worksheet, accessed on the CIS
entry screen by double-clicking (or pressing F7) on the Drive Adjust item,
to calculate a drive time override. |
|
An
agent is being used to pickup or deliver this particular freight, with
their rates set up in CIS under another P&D run number. |
Force
the system to use this alternate set of rates by adding the run number to
the ZIP Code entry in parenthesis, such as 90210(1) to force P&D run
number 1. |
|
An
agent is being used to pickup or deliver this freight, charging a special
rate not set up in CIS. |
Calculate
the cost of the pickup or delivery and force the system to use it by
adding a dollar sign to the ZIP Code, such as 60606$.
The Drive Adjust item will then prompt for the override cost. |
|
There
is no pickup (freight is brought to us) or there is no delivery (they get
freight from our dock) for this freight. |
Suppress
the cost by entering 0 for the CIS Drive and Stop Adjust items. |
