The linehaul adjust item can be used to adjust the shipment cost, to override miles, or to override the average load on any or all legs over which the shipment moves.
The CIS shipment data entry screen provides fields for up to seven linehaul legs (outbound from origin terminal, outbound from first intermediate terminal, outbound from second intermediate terminal, etc.) for entry of adjustments as follows:
Entry System Response
1 Item Default: No Adjustment 0 Suppress Linehaul Cost Less than 5 Adjustment Ratio 5 to 4999 Linehaul Miles Override 5000 or greater Average Load Override (Pounds) Negative Number Direct Cost Override in $$$.¢¢ (Absolute Value)
When the Linehaul Adjustment item is used for an average load override, the Linehaul Cube item should then be used for a corresponding average cube override, as both factors are utilized in the cost allocation.
For example, if the nature of new freight being analyzed changes the characteristics of the first leg of a move to an average load of 25,000 pounds and an average cube of 2200 cubic feet, both data should be entered for the cost analysis as follows:
Linehaul
Leg #1
Adjust 25000
Cube 2200
With both overrides, the shipment costing will better reflect the new conditions in that particular linehaul leg of the move.
Double click or press F7 with the cursor on the linehaul adjust field, and a help window opens with additional options:
A miles override for the entire origin to destination move can be entered in the first leg field, followed by zeros in the remaining legs to produce an override linehaul cost without removing the intermediate terminals.
