Load Plan
The Load Plan is a CIS Cost Profile component used to insert intermediate freight terminals between the origin and destination terminals in shipment cost data. It is a sorted file of terminal pairs (called IMFIL.DAT) containing your planned methods of routing linehaul. Each record in the file has an origin and destination terminal and can have up to six intermediate terminals with a cross dock handling code for each.
System supervisors create and maintain the Load Plan via the CIS Profile Maintenance Menu item Load Plan, which has various options for Load Plan modification and source file processing.
When shipment data is entered into CIS, the load plan is accessed each time an origin and destination is entered (entered either manually when Costing Shipments and the Rate Analysis Program, or read-in from a file via Porter). The load plan is actually accessed a second time during the costing, to fill in any gaps. The load plan will either route the shipment direct from origin to destination, or will pick up from an entered intermediate terminal. Enter X for an intermediate terminal to force the system to not apply the load plan.

|
Origin NYC Destination: LOS I/M #1 <Blank> |
Get all intermediate terminals from New York terminal to the Los Angeles terminal in the load plan. |
|
Origin NYC Destination LOS I/M #1 X |
Override the load plan with a direct routing from New York to Los Angeles. However, if no direct linehaul leg exists from NYC to LOS, it will get all intermediate terminals from the load plan. |
|
Origin NYC Destination LOS I/M #1 PIT |
Get all intermediate terminals from Intermediate Pittsburgh to destination Los Angeles. |
|
Origin NYC Destination LOS I/M #1 PIT I/M #2 X |
Override the load plan with a direct routing from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles (Again, unless no leg exists) |
