Any CIS shipment description input item requiring a numeric entry allows the user to enter an equation to obtain the entry amount.  In a specific input field, the key strokes +,-,* and / will activate those math functions.  Some examples:

• Density of a pallet can be determined by dividing weight per pallet by pallet cube, such as 800/64 , which puts 12.5 density in the field.

• One and a half hours at a stop can be entered for Stop Adjust minutes by entering 1.5*60, which puts 90 in the field.

• A shipment consisting of four boxes weighing 8,12,15 and 19 pounds can be entered in the weight field as 8+12+15+19 to set the total 54 pounds.

• Making three trips per day to shipper to pick up 100,000 lbs. of freight can have an entry of 100000/3 in the stop weight field for an average stop weight per trip.

The user can also specify the decimals that the total should be rounded to, by adding a comma and then the number of decimal places.  For the last example, use 100000 / 3, 0 to round weight to a whole number.  When dividing to obtain a ratio, the math entry can be followed by ",2" or ",3" to obtain rounding to two or three places, respectively.  

On the Template, in the edit mode, any entry beginning with a math operator (+,-,*,/) will apply the function to all elements in the file.  For example:

• For Revenue: *1.05 will increase revenues for each shipment in the file by 5 percent.

• For Stop Weight: +2000 will increase all  shipment stop weights by 2000 pounds.

The system also has a calculator icon on the upper tool bar allowing more complex calculations.  When an amount is calculated with this feature, click on OK and the amount will be written to the CIS entry field on which the cursor was positioned when the calculator was activated.
