The CIS
Rate Analysis Program can be used to analyze or develop rates to apply per
pallet, rather than the traditional per hundred pounds.
This can be accomplished by building an inbound or outbound rate analysis
file, to or from any number of selected points.
In the Rate Analysis file, the packaging code must be set to
Palletized or Unitized, and the weight per pallet must be
completed, on the template screen.
When the
file is costed, and the weight group selection screen appears, click on the
upper left Rate Basis field. A
selection list opens with choices of Pallets and Pieces, in addition to the
Weight default.
The selection of Pallets sets the system to perform the analysis
on that basis, and fills the matrix on the screen with a pre-set group of number
of pallets per shipment.
These
groups can be changed, if desired, by moving the cursor to any field and
entering an alternate title, number of pallets, or dock adjustment.
Groups can also be eliminated using the delete row button, or added using
the insert button.
The main
driver of this analysis is the column “number of pallets,” which is applied
to the weight per pallet, as set up in the template, to construct shipment
weight and cube.
Constructed
shipments for each origin/destination pair and pallet group are then costed on
the system, and cost results are divided back by the number of pallets to
provide the cost per pallet and, if a target profitability was entered, a target
rate in dollars per pallet for each group.
The full
cost detail of any specific pallets/origin/destination can be viewed by
double-clicking on the cost total.
Results can be printed, in the report format which appears on-screen, or
can be saved as a comma-separated text file for incorporation into other
programs, using the File option.
