Under the final option on the CIS maintenance menu, Paths
and Settings, there is an option, added to the Cost Information System last
year, called Review CIS System Settings. This is an important backup to the Cost Information
System which we strongly encourage CIS system administrators to run, print and
file away just as you would do with a computer recovery disk.
If your computer were to crash, the CIS system settings, all the various
switches indicating options to be used in the processing of data and operation
of the cost system, which are unique for your company, may prove very difficult
to replicate. The settings report creates a document to print which
displays all of the major CIS settings, including the menu options to use to
enter them, so that they can be reset into the system if necessary.
