One of the CIS cost output reports will display cost results by state and province. This feature is only available when the shipment origin and destination are entered (or extracted) using location codes (U.S. ZIP Codes / Canadian Postal Codes). State and province identification is accomplished using the system files STATES.CIS and PROVINCE.CIS, which reside in the main \CIS folder. These two files contain the ZIP and Postal code ranges for each state and province.
Cost results are accessed by clicking on the View Reports or Print Reports menu items, and then selecting State.
A subsequent window appears to allow the user to select whether the report should be sorted by origin or by destination. If location code entries were not ZIP Codes or Postal Codes, an error message will appear. Otherwise, a report will be generated with the following output fields:
- State/Province
- Number of Shipments
- Weight
- Cost
- Revenue
- Operating Ratio
Any location codes which are not found in the states and province files is listed as "All Other" and should be investigated.
The Report ends with totals for the entire costed file.
