The CIS Extra Cost item has a number of features for calculating specific additional costs.
The cost field itself is designed for the entry of either a dollar amount of additional cost for the shipment or for the entry of up to five individual alpha codes representing "standard" additional costs as set up by the user. Once established, these codes may be selected from an on-screen window which can be activated when the cursor is on the extra cost item (double-click or press F7.
Standard extra costs can be set up by using the CIS Profile Maintenance item Extra Costs, which displays all the Extra Cost codes. Use the Action menu to add, delete, or modify all Extra Cost items. Each extra cost item requires an alpha character assignment, (A-Z, a-z), a title (which appears in the selection window), an application code and an amount. For extra costs expressed in dollars, the general ledger source of the cost is required as well. Application codes tell the system how to apply the extra cost and are as follows:
0- Pallet return
1- Flat cost (in dollars and cents)
2- Percent of Revenue (for example... 5= 5%)
3- Flat cost for pickup stop (in dollars and cents)
4- Flat cost for delivery stop (in dollars and cents)
5- Cost per hundredweight (in cents)
6- Additional pickup minutes for shipment
7- Addition delivery minutes for shipment
8- Addition pickup minutes at stop
9- Additional delivery minutes at stop
10- Linehaul Adjustments/Ratio
11- Additional Pickup Minutes per Piece
12- Additional Delivery Minutes per Piece
13- Additional Pickup Minutes per Hundredweight
14- Additional Delivery Minutes per Hundredweight
15- Extra Cost per Pallet
16- Special Linehaul Leg Code
17- Cost per Pallet per Day
Application code zero, for pallet return, requires entry of a set of parameters for the cost calculation. Refer to TCG Technical Paper #8, Pallet Returns, for information on this feature. All other application codes require subsequent entry of an amount, corresponding to the application selected.
In the costing, some of these applications will be displayed as a separate cost, such as flat cost and percent of revenue. Others, such as additional minutes per stop and linehaul adjustment, will be included in the cost for that activity.
Some other notes on the Extra Cost feature:
If an extra cost arises that the current application codes do not support, please contact TCG.
